Welcome to Cleeve Prior School

The School and the Village of Cleeve Prior

Cleeve Prior School is a small rural first school situated in the heart of the village. Cleeve Prior is part of the Vale of Evesham and 7 miles from Stratford on Avon. It is surrounded by idyllic countryside, farms and market gardens and is close to the river Avon. The origin of the school dates back over 100 years when the Dean and Chapter of Worcester Cathedral gave land to the Incumbent of the Parish. The Trust Deed was written and this established the school and its religious foundation.
The picturesque village of Cleeve Prior successfully combines old properties built from local stone with tasteful barn conversions and sympathetic modern dwellings. Places of interest within the village include the Millennium Green, Community Garden and parish wharf. The area is steeped in history from Roman occupation to Cleeve Prior Manor.
The original school was built in 1858 and was extended in 1967 and again in the late 1990's. The large entrance hall was transformed into the colourful and welcoming Library and a new office and reception area were created. In 1999 a new classroom was added freeing the hall for the first time.
The school grounds are extensive and very attractive. There is a well-established environmental area and in the corner of the field is a large adventure playground. There is also a secure, fenced area for the use of the Early Years children. At the end of the school day the use of the bottom half of the field reverts to the parish and is used by the village children.
At present there are 45 children in the school. The Headteacher is a teaching head with responsibility for the YR/1 class . A part -time teacher takes the class on Thursdays and Fridays. The Deputy Head teacher has the Y2/3 class and is also the SENCo. The third full time member of the teaching staff is responsible for the YR/I class.
